Principles for the gate position in the plastic mold (1)

Gate position and quantities will affect the plastic parts quality much. Some elements need be considered when put gate on mold.

• Avoid the defect happened on the part

If the gate size is small, and which is right against the thick height and width, big cavity space. There will set up a big sharing stress when melt resin pass the gate, this will cause abnormal injection and squirm phenomenon

• Gate should be set on the thick section position

• Be benefit for the melt resin flow

• Be benefit for the vent escape

• Consider the force endurance capability

The internal stress is bigger near the gate position, strength is small there. So put gate far from the big force endurance area.
