Design principles for the resin feed system in plastic mold (1)

Resin feed system is one of important section in the plastic mold design processing, which affect the production efficiency and plastic part qualify directly.

• Compromise with the mold whole layout

1. If multiple cavities, put the balance layout as far as possible

2. Layout and gate position are symmetrical, prevent the overload partially

3. Compact the mold layout as far as possible

• Heat and pressure lose should be small

1. Shorten the runner length

2. Runner section is bigger ( of course, the runner scrap is more accordingly, need weigh 2 sides )

3. Surfaces roughness of runner should be reduced

• Make sure feed enter the gate at the same time for each cavity, that is say, keep the balance design for runner

• Runner scrap should be small. The volume of feed system should be small if the feel system capacity is enough. This consideration also will reduce the cycle time in the molding process
