The consideration in the plastic mold design processing

When we get a new part to fabricate a new mold, 4 aspects need to be considered.

• Analysis the plastic part structure and its technology requirements

The plastic structure determine the mold complexity, part technology requirements ( such as dimensions precision, surfaces roughness etc) will limit level of difficulty in mold fabrication and molding

• Know the injection machine well, ensure it fit with the mold

• Know the resin properties and technology

1. Resin flow ability

2. Flow resistance in the cavity

3. Potential internal stress

4. Part shrinkage and resin feeding

5. the mold steel temperature required for the resin

• Consider the mold structure and fabrication requirements

1. Select the proper parting line, gate position and cavity quantities

2. Cavity steel hardness, rigidness and cavity dimension precision

3. Which way to release in the molding process

4. Make the components easy to fabricate

5. Select reasonable mold steel

6. lose of the mold heat, cooling flow and molding efficiency
