What's the difference between the double shot mold and over mold

These 2 kinds of mold have 2 colors. People need determine which way is more suitable, this decision depend on the mold budget, part appearance requirements, production quantities etc, In generally, the over mold is more economical for small quantity production, the part quality and part efficiency is also worse accordingly.

• Double shot mold: 2 kinds of resin are injected in a same injection machining with only one mold.

1. Cavity shape is different to form a part, but the core is same shape

2. In the molding, the core side will rotate 180 degree, then close the mold. In the design mold processing, this action must be checked completely, confirm there is no interference existing.

• Over mold: Inject a part by 2 times with different resin. when a part finished, from a mold, then put it into another mold to get more features on the part.

No matter double shot or over mold, must be careful the seal place, to avoid the scratch on the first shot part, and need estimate the strength of the seal place. Also need consider first shot part stick to the core tightly in second shot processing by inject force and melt resin flow.
